“The Muppet Movie” is making its way back to the big screen this July in celebration of the film’s 40th anniversary.
In honor of the milestone, Fantom Events, in partnership with The Jim Henson Company and Universal Pictures, brings the classic film back to movie theaters around the U.S. for two days: Thursday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 30. Showings are at 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on both dates.
Featuring Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Gonzo, Scooter, the Swedish Chef, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, along with many other muppets, made their way to Hollywood on a cross-country trip. During the film, a no-good businessman tries to con Kermit into being his fast food franchise spokesperson.

It’s been 40 years since the delightful film made its way to the big screen in 1979. Three years after, “The Muppet Show” started airing regularly on television.
Fathom Events Vice President Tom Lucas, calls the film “truly timeless, thanks both to its iconic characters and to its always-stirring theme of following your dreams and believing in your own abilities.”
“The Muppet Movie” became a blockbuster hit and earned Best Original Song and Best Adaptation Score Oscar nominations for “The Rainbow Connection,” sung by Kermit the Frog, and its movie score.
The film had notable cameos from James Coburn, Dom DeLuise, Madeleine Kahn, Steve Martin, Milton Berle, Bob Hope, Carol Kane, Cloris Leachman, Mel Brooks, Richard Pryor, Telly Savalas, Elliot Gould and Orson Welles.
