Sam Adams Cincinnati Taproom is celebrating its Cincinnati heritage on 513 Day (May 13) by releasing “513,” a locally-developed favorite on tap and canned for the first time.
The final “513” recipe was decided upon by Cincinnatians themselves. At Zinzinnati Oktoberfest 2016, drinkers had the chance to sample three Cincinnati-brewed beers and voted on their favorite style. There was a clear winner that came out of that vote, and so the Sam Adams team went on to brew the crowd favorite lager recipe that is now known as “513”.
This classically dry-hopped American lager blends a complex, malty backbone with bright hop notes for a refreshingly balanced beer.
It’s not just the beer that was inspired by Cincinnati. The unique tap handle pays homage to the Union Terminal, with pigs paying tribute to the city’s nickname “Porkopolis,” which was coined in the 1800s.
