You can hunt for $2,000 in downtown Cincinnati Thursday

Breakout Games is celebrating their new room ‘Runaway Train’ by hosting a treasure hunt in downtown Cincinnati Thursday (Breakout Games Cincinnati)

Put on your best sleuthing hats! Thousands of dollars are up for grabs in downtown Cincinnati Thursday evening.

You can channel your inner treasure hunter as you solve clues to find $2,000 in cash hidden around the Queen City.

Breakout Games is hosting the event to promote their newest room, Runaway Train.

Breakout says they’re hiding the cold, hard cash in the form of 20, $100 bills around the Ohio River Banks and Over-the-Rhine.

Here’s how to play:

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, so-called ‘game masters’ surrounded by red balloons will spread the word about the games by handing out cards with details on the evening’s treasure hunt.

The games will begin at 5 p.m. and last until 8 p.m. You’ll need your smartphone’s handy because participants will need to follow along with local Breakout Games’ social media accounts to receive clues and coordinates every 30 minutes.

The hunt will wrap-up with a party at a local brewery in Over-the-Rhine.

Searching for cash also won’t cost you a dime. The game is free, all you have to do is arrive at the designated areas at 5 p.m. and check in through the Breakout Cincinnati or Breakout West Chester Facebook pages, they say.

May the luck be ever in your favor. We hope you’re more like Nicholas Cage and less like the Hunger Games.
