Amazon partnering with local drive-in for 50 cent movie night

With most movie theaters still closed around the country, the nostalgic drive-in experience is having a resurgence. The Cincinnati-area is lucky to have multiple locations! Hamilton is home to the Holiday Auto Theatre, Amelia has the Starlite Drive-In Theatre, The Dixie Twin Drive-In Theater is in Dayton, and Bel-Air Drive-In is just west of Cincy in Versailles, IN.

And now, Amazon is partnering with a handful of drive-ins across the country to premiere their newest film. Lucky for us, one of our Cincinnati-area drive-ins has been selected!

This weekend, May 15 & 16, Amazon will debut its latest original film “The Vast of Night” in select drive-ins nationwide, including one right here in Southwest Ohio – The Dixie Twin Drive-In Theater in Dayton, Ohio.

The best part? Because the film is set in the 1950s, the price of admission is going retro as well to reflect the time period, as in just 50 cents per person!

It should be noted that according to their Facebook page, The Dixie-Twin is observing social distancing guidelines.

So for less than the price of a soda, you get a safe and fun excuse to get out of the house on the weekend.

And if you’re not familiar with the movie showing, here’s a trailer and synopsis.

The Vast of Night

Set in the 1950s in New Mexico, two young kids discover a strange audio frequency that could change their small town and the future forever. Dropped phone calls, AM radio signals, secret reels of tape forgotten in a library, switchboards, crossed patchlines, and an anonymous phone call leads the two kids on a scavenger hunt into the unknown.

The Vast of Night shows at 9:30 pm, on both Friday and Saturday evenings. The film is rated PG13.
