We take a popular sandwich and turned it into a cool, refreshing treat.
Peanut Butter and Jelly as a smoothie? Now I know that sounds odd but hear me out, it’s good! Typically when PB&J is made it is between two slices of bread (one slice if you are a carb counter) or made into a smoothie as you see in the video. There is a health factor to it as well with a vegetable, celery. You don’t taste it however, for those of you that don’t like greens, but still get the nutrient benefits of it. Fun fact, June 21st is National Smoothie Day. Here are the directions and ingredients on how to make a PB&J smoothie.
1 c. blueberries
½ c. milk
2 celery stalks
1 frozen banana
2 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. peanut butter
Blend all of the ingredients together until smooth. Serve.
Or if you want to get fancy…
First or top layer of the smoothie pictured is a mixture of peanut butter, ¼ cup of milk, frozen banana, and honey. (Not shown in the video but made separately) However, you will need to blend these ingredients together, pour it into the jar, rinse it out the blender, and start making your second layer. Make sure you cut the frozen banana so the blender can mix it better and put the blender on medium-high speed until smooth. Then pour liquid into the jar.
Second or bottom layer of the smoothie pictured is a mixture of blueberries, celery, and ¼ cup of milk. (Not shown in the video but made separately) But, you will need to blend these ingredients together, pour into the jar, and rinse it out the blender, and start making the other layer. Cut up the celery into quarter-size pieces so they can mix well in the blender. Put blender on medium speed until smooth (add more liquid for a thicker smoothie). Pour mixture into the same jar or cup.
The finally product should look “jelly” on the bottom and “peanut butter” on the top. Enjoy! Whichever layer you want to put first, the “peanut butter” or the “jelly”, it does not matter. It is your preference.
