How to make "whipped" or "Dalgona Coffee"
If your social media feeds look anything like mine, then it’s a mix of posts alternating between coronavirus news and this new “whipped coffee” trend. Obviously right now, we’re focusing on the latter.
So, what exactly is whipped coffee?
Its official name is Dalgona Coffee and it is technically the reverse of a regular coffee. Instead of foamy milk on top and coffee on bottom, you have milk on bottom and a frothy, foamy coffee on top.
According to an article on Spot.ph, this new drink was spotted on a TV show in South Korea called Pyunstorang in January. Soon after, the recipe went viral on TikTok.
And while a majority of the world has an endless amount of free time right now, people around the globe have been trying this new simple drink out for themselves.
Here’s how to make it.
- 2 Tablespoons Instant Coffee
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons warm water
- Milk – any kind you want
- Mix the instant coffee, sugar, and warm water together in a bowl. You’ll want to mix until the ingredients come together in a cool whip type foam.
- Add some ice to a glass and pour your milk over it about 2/3 of the way to the top of the glass.
- Top the glass off with you whipped coffee.
- Mix it all up and enjoy!
