Universal cancels Halloween Horror Nights due to COVID-19 pandemic

We’re afraid we have some bad news for you. According to a post on social media, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood have decided to not hold Halloween Horror Nights events this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Universal Orlando posted a message saying in part, “We know this decision will disappoint our fans and guests. We are disappointed, too. But we look forward to creating an amazing event in 2021.”

Universal says instead of hosting the annual events this year, it will focus on keeping the operations of its theme parks as safe and clean as possible for the guests they have during the day.

Universal implemented mandatory face masks, social distancing protocols, and temperature checks when it reopened its parks following a shutdown in March due to the pandemic.

This would have been the 30th year for the Halloween Horror Nights events.
