Bockfest: Cincinnati's annual celebration of Spring and the area's brewing heritage.
Don’t let the snow fool you! Spring is on the way and that means it’s time for Bockfest.
The beer-tastic celebration of Spring and Cincinnati’s brewing heritage kciks off its 27th year Friday throughout downtown and Over-the-Rhine.
Join the Parade
The party officially kicks off Friday, March 1, with the annual Bockfest Parade, which winds its way from Arnold’s Bar & Grill to Bockfest Hall at the Christian Moerlein Brewery & Taproom starting at 6 p.m. Bockfest Hall will be home to live music, beer and food throughout the entire weekend.
The fun continues Saturday with the running of the Bockfest 5K through Over-the-Rhine. The route will pass though many historic brewery sites throughout OTR. Runners can sign up here: www.runbeerseries.com.
Celebrate the History
After the race, beer fans can dig into local history with “Beer & Bygone Days,” a series of beer tappings, speakers, homebrew competitions and more.
Saturday night includes the finals of the Bockfest Beard Baron and Sausage Queen competitions at Bockfest Hall.
New this year
Just because the tradition is rooted in the past, doesn’t mean Bockfest can’t innovate. New this year for the festival is the .05K Fun Run on Sunday, a Bock Beer Experience on Saturday with 15 local bock beers on tap with a tasting ticket option, and the Cincy Bock Bus will be running again.
Fun for the Whole Family
Sunday is family-friendly Day at Bockfest Hall. This year includes a “Little Links” kids pageant, as well as kid-friendly games, goat yoga, and more.
The non-profit Brewery District Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation will provide tours of the Brewing Heritage Trail all weekend. Saturday and Sunday will feature a new, 90-minuted Bock Tour that includes lager cellar tours, re-enactors, and more.
