The Crazy History of Bock Beer and Cincy’s Beloved “Bockfest”

Cincinnatians know Bockfest as the annual party where people dress up like friars, celebrate goats and drink probably way too much beer. But behind this quirky festival is a crazy story of friars, goats, and one chill pope.

We chatted with the man most synonymous with the festival, Christian Moerlein Brewery owner Greg Hardman who explained why Bock beer is actually good for Lent. Yeah, get excited.
