In Cincinnati, few places truly embody the spirit of "the west side" quite like Price Hill. Sitting just west of downtown, it truly stands out among Cincinnati's 52 neighborhoods for it's rich history, sense of community and legacy of great food.
"But wait. Isn't Price Hill broken up into 3 neighborhoods?"
Great question! Yes, if we're being technical, we could do separate lists for lower, east and west Price Hill. But in this case, we're exploring the glory of all 6 square miles in one. Having said that, while you're in Price Hill you should...
Enjoy the view at Incline Public House
What could be better than having a beer with some great bar food overlooking our beautiful city? If this sounds like your idea of a perfect Summer night, you’ve gotta stop by the Incline Public House. Taking it’s name from now defunct transit system of days past, this place wins in many categories including a good beer selection, range of dishes and complete with the classic view Price Hill is known for.
Drop In at the legendary Price Hill Chili
A place that is so uniquely “Cincinnati” and yet so classically “west side” at the same time, you probably already know all about the glory of Price Hill Chili. Maybe you’ve had a coney or two after a Friday night Elder home game? Or maybe you indulged in a giant, delightfully greasy omelette the morning after a long, long night. No matter what your circumstance is or what high school you went to (someone will probably ask), everyone is welcome and united by the great food at this iconic Cincy diner. We’d give you recommendations on what to order but let’s be honest, you know what you’re gonna get and you probably don’t need a menu either.
Grab some donuts at St. Lawrence Bakery
If we’re talking about the history and tradition of Price Hill, we’ve gotta take a minute to talk about the St. Lawrence Bakery. They’ve been making amazing donuts, cookies, pastries and other fantastic sweet treats from scratch since 1901. With 116 years of expertise, you’re gonna leave satisfied, and probably craving something else. They open at 6 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday so get there early to make sure you get some. We recommend the donuts, but honestly, you can’t go wrong here.
See a show at the Warsaw Federal Incline Theater
It’s one of Cincinnati’s newest performance theaters and it’s already getting a big name for itself. Planted right on the top of the hill, the Warsaw Federal Incline Theater is cozy, intimate and always booked with great shows. Pair it with a nice dinner at Primavista right next door and you’ll have a fantastic night out with that special someone.
Get romantic at Primavista
File under “absolutely perfect for date night.” Primavista has been a destination spot for more than 25 years, serving up fantastic Italian food in a fine dining atmosphere, coupled with that amazing view we keep talking about. Known for having some great pasta, people love the “Gnocchi with Sautéed Rock Shrimp.” And if you’re looking for a great steak, the rave reviews won’t stop flowing for the Center Cut Filet Mignon with veal glaze. A bottle of vino isn’t a bad idea either.
Get a latte at BLOC Coffee Company
No list like this is complete without a place to get a solid cup of coffee. That’s where BLOC Coffee Company comes in. Connoisseurs from all over the Tri-State won’t stop talking about this place, known for great lattes and delicious cold brew perfect for those August (or December, we don’t judge) mornings. And if you’re looking to expand your horizons, they’ve got some pretty interesting takes on the classics served up by some well versed baristas. They’ve also got some great food options and an atmosphere that will make you wanna hang out there all day.
Have a glass of vino at Somm Wine Bar
Oh yeah, did we mention that BLOC Coffee is directly planted next to an amazing spot to get a glass of vino? Meet Somm Wine Bar, known for it’s picture perfect patio and great selection of both red and white varietals. If you’ve never been, stop by on a Tuesday for half price glass pours and relax for a while.
Gorge on the tacos at Veracruz Mexican Grill
Let us be clear right from the start: you need to try the tacos at Veracruz. Whether it’s pork, chicken, steak or anything else, they’re pretty much all great when garnished with some bright and fresh lettuce, onion, cilantro, lime and even some cucumbers. The dining room is small (don’t worry, they’re expanding) so keep that in mind if you plan on coming with a big group. Next time you’re craving some Mexican food, this gem is a must visit.
Take a walk through Mt. Echo Park
Peaceful, relaxing and yet another spot to enjoy a great view. Mt. Echo Park is definitely one of the best outdoor spots to stop by in Price Hill. With hiking trails, playgrounds, picnic areas and that awesome pavilion this is a great place to take the kids one afternoon.
