Cincinnati craft brewery Taft’s Brewing Company tied in amassing the most awards at this year’s Ohio Craft Brewers Cup, including multiple medals and two regional awards.
Taft’s Gavel Banger IPA excitingly took home gold for the Best American IPA. Gavel Banger IPA was also recently crowned Cincinnati’s Favorite Beer of 2019 (as deemed by online polling hosted by the Cincinnati Enquirer) after nearly 80,000 votes in a beer bracket competition. One of Taft’s staples, Gavel Banger IPA is brewed and dry-hopped with heaps of Citra and Mosaic hops ending with a smooth, clean finish.
“We’ve always thought of Gavel Banger IPA as Taft’s crown jewel, so to see it fulfilling its potential with a gold medal is very exciting!” says Ryan Blandford, Head Brewer at Taft’s Brewing Company.
Taft’s Brewing Company notably was titled the Best Mid-Sized Brewery in Ohio, as well as the Best Southwest Ohio Brewery. Additional awards collected include a gold medal for best American Lager (Cold Boy) and best European Pale Ale (Hops Over Hype), while also receiving a silver medal for best Wood/Barrel Aged beer over 8% (Barrel Aged Big Silky).
Gavel Banger IPA can be found in your favorite local bars, restaurants, grocery stores and craft beer spots. You’ll have to swing by Taft’s Ale House or Taft’s Brewpourium to try the other medal winners, along with many more you won’t see in stores.
